The early bloom

A week or so ago I noticed something purple out in the grass. Was it....? I went closer. It was! The first crocus was blooming!

Almost right away it got covered with snow. All I could see was a sort of purple smudge in the snow.

Now the snow is melting, and here are some little flowers peeking out. They've closed up but you can still see the purple.

So here's a new Spring saying: instead of "The Early Bird gets the Worm", it's "The Early Bloom gets the Snow."
