In which I return to blogging and complaining

Another holiday, but the same old story.
My people bring me to the holiday place.
There are the usual big people and some funny little people, the Old Gal and her Old Guy, and the usual incomprehensible stuff that they all do.
And there is food. All that good-smelling food just sitting around and no body sharing it with a deserving dog.
It was "Down, Chacko!" and "No, Chacko!" and "Don't knock down the baby, Chacko!" all day.
Boy, that can be tiring.
It took me hours to persuade a person to at least let me sleep on a lap.

No Dog Feast?

Dear Readers,
Well, I am back, and for the most perplexing holiday ever.Sure, I got to dress up. And my People made some great smelling stuff to put in the car with me. Of course they didn't share it in the car but I did think they would when we arrived.
The Original Inhabitant said she'd been watching the activity in the kitchen for two days!
The smells were incredible!
They were making all sorts of FOOD.
Turns out this is a holiday for eating!
Sounds great, right?
But they wouldn't share.
That's right. Not a bit for us dogs!
We tried to let them know that we'd be happy with the left-overs.
A scrap or two would be fine.
Just drop a crumb, won't you?
But no...nothing but dry old dog food for us.
Not much of a holiday, I thought.
So then I figured we'd have some sport.
I brought the ball.
They just made noise.
I made sure they could see the ball.
More noise.
I could come up with better ideas for this 'Thanksgiving'.

Scotty's Christmas

Scotty and his neighbor Snooper were excited when I went to the barn today.
Something had happened on Christmas eve.

Someone left a stocking hanging on Scotty's stall door.
Snooper had one too. They could hardly wait to see what was inside.
Someone knew just what Scotty would like to find in his stocking.
It was carrots and candy canes!
Happy horse!
Now you know that Santa comes to the barn too.

What happened to the pumpkin

Remember the big orange surprise that Socks found in the yard?
Did you guess what was going to happen to it?
Tonight I cut the top off
and scooped out the insides.
Granddad saved the seeds.
The outside was so tough and the shell so thick that it took a strong man to make the first cuts.
Granddad supervised the process. Socks wasn't sure about it.Slowly a face began to appear.
It took a long time to cut it.
I trimmed up the teeth. They are pretty sharp.
The big orange pumpkin turned into a jolly looking Jack-o-lantern.
Until dark.

Then it looked a little spooky.

Happy Halloween!
