No Dog Feast?

Dear Readers,
Well, I am back, and for the most perplexing holiday ever.Sure, I got to dress up. And my People made some great smelling stuff to put in the car with me. Of course they didn't share it in the car but I did think they would when we arrived.
The Original Inhabitant said she'd been watching the activity in the kitchen for two days!
The smells were incredible!
They were making all sorts of FOOD.
Turns out this is a holiday for eating!
Sounds great, right?
But they wouldn't share.
That's right. Not a bit for us dogs!
We tried to let them know that we'd be happy with the left-overs.
A scrap or two would be fine.
Just drop a crumb, won't you?
But no...nothing but dry old dog food for us.
Not much of a holiday, I thought.
So then I figured we'd have some sport.
I brought the ball.
They just made noise.
I made sure they could see the ball.
More noise.
I could come up with better ideas for this 'Thanksgiving'.

A True Blue Fan

Hello Readers,
Yes, I'm back again. I showed up on Saturday in my Colts Blue, ready to watch the game with Old Wren and everyone. I did look handsome, didn't I?
I had to growl at the game, though.
My team let me down.

Oh! Possum!

Something is rustling in the leaves. What little critter is poking around there?
I see you! Come on out, little one.
My, you have nicely striped ears~
but what happened to your tail?
It has no hair at all.
There you go on your way somewhere. I like your little bare feet.
So where are you going Little 'Possum?

Oh, I see. You need a drink of water.

It's a good thing I put one of the bird baths down low - I guess we'll call it an Opossum Drinking Bowl instead of a bird bath.

Old Wren returns

"Okay," says the Original Inhabitant, also known as the Old Gal. "The Boston Gentleman and the Sidekick Cat are gone." "I'll get up and do the blogging."
"No," says Old Wren.
"That was just a one-time thing, having the Boston Gentleman take over the blog.
Now I will go back to blogging about things outside."
"I go outside too" says the Old Gal. "I could do a blog about going outside."
"No," says Old Wren. "Nobody wants to read a blog about eating and sleeping and what you do outside.
Tell you what, I'll put you in the blog sometimes. How about that?"
"Phooey!" says the Old Gal.

Welcome and Farewell

Dear Readers,
Yesterday I knew something was happening. Something felt different about the morning. I tried to stay underfoot and close to see what it was.
Then I heard something - a car noise I hadn't heard in weeks. I bounced to the door. Then...my REAL People came in!
They're back!
Oh frabjus day! Oh joy!
I couldn't believe it. They said they missed me (of course they did!)
and I said I missed them.
I stayed close while they relaxed and visited.
I wanted to be sure they didn't leave without me.
As for Sidekick Cat, he decided to show them what he thought of being left by leaving a certain deposit on the carpet.
He gets to go Home anyway.
Home! With the Real People!
I am so happy.
I will say goodbye to you and turn this blog back over to Old Wren.
Keep checking - Old Wren says I can make guest appearances when I come visit.
But for now,
farewell.

Toby finds blogs fuel dissatisfaction

I have looked at that Pampered Poppy Pet's post on pillows.
I wish to register a complaint.
All I have is one thin shabby thing on which to perch.
I expect adjustments to be made.

I've got a friend!

Look at this! It's someone just like me! I can't believe it!
He's come over to play.
I have a friend!
He knows how to play the way I play!

The Old Gal wants to play too, but she just doesn't know how.
Besides, she can't move as fast as we do!

We run!
We wrestle!
We roll around!
We slobber all over each other!
Then we have a drink and do it all over again.
We could play all day!
We have fun, fun, fun!
Then there are leashes.
Leashes are NO fun.
My friend is dragged out the door.
He doesn't want to go home.
I don't want him to go home.

I cry a little bit.
Maybe he'll come back.
I love love love having a friend over to play.

Keeping our eyes on things

The Servant is cooking dinner. She does not escape our scrutiny.

Back rub + belly rub= happy me

Oops - you caught me wriggling on the floor.
Not my usual dignified appearance, eh? Oh, it feels sooo good on my back!
And when someone comes along to rub my belly....
oooooh!
Who cares about dignity?

Poor Me

Dear Reader,

You're right, I'm not feeling well, thanks for asking.

It's my tummy.

Oh my poor tummy!

The Orginial Inhabitant and I have been finding some wonderful candy out in the yard. Little chocolate colored drops.

She looks worried about me, doesn't she?

She doesn't get upset from eating it so I guess she wonders why I do. It's so yummy. How can I help myself?

Of course part of the fun is finding the stuff. I have quite a nose for it. I'll just be walking along and catch the sweet scent - then snuffle around until I find the cache- ummmm. By the time the Servant realizes what I'm doing I've gobbled them up. (Then she yells, but I don't pay any attention)
Okay, so maybe I shouldn't have eaten so much.

Don't worry about that stuff on the floor, I'll clean it up.
Right now I just want to be left alone to suffer.
Oh poor me.

Ball Game

Dear Reader,
I am trying to make things interesting for these rather boring folks I'm staying with. They try, you know, but they're awfully stodgy!

For example, take the classic Ball game. You know how it goes: toss the ball, chase the ball, bring the ball back.
That's fine for a while but a clever fellow like me can think of a hundred ways to make it better.

So I'm trying to teach them this new version of the game.
I thought it up all by myself. Here's how it goes:

I bring the ball back, just like the classic game.

I position the ball on the floor in front of me.

Now, I say to them, now you try to pick up the ball.

I let them get pretty close to the ball....tease them into thinking that they can pick it up....

then like lightning I snatch the ball!
They reach for it! I evade their hands with ease!

Ha! Isn't this fun?

Then I let them get part of the ball. They pull. They tug. They shake it around.
My powerful jaws are set. My strong teeth are fixed. They will never get the ball away from me!

Oh what fun this is!

Wait! Where is everyone going? Don't you want to play some more?

I don't know why they don't like my version of the game.

Toby again

You know, sometimes I don't mind sharing the sunlight sleeping spot. That is, as long as the Dog behaves himself.
And doesn't cast a shadow on my spot.
And doesn't do that twitching thing.
And quits startling up every time someone moves.
And actually....
actually I think I need my own spot.

Lazy day

Dear Readers,
There is nothing more comforting than a warm cuddle on a chilly day, on a quiet afternoon with the sun coming in the window.
Ahhhhhh....
